All jewellery changes over time, much like anything in nature. It has a life cycle that responds to its environment, how it is treated, and how often it's worn.

At Torus Arc, we have a particular affinity for sapphires and precious stones discarded by the industry due to imperfections. We cherish these imperfect gems and salvage as many as we can

. However, due to their jagged cuts, some pieces can be brittle and prone to chipping. We strongly advise against wearing your piece during activities such as bathing, exercising, gardening, or housework. Safely storing your jewellery during these times will help maintain the gemstone's condition.

Silver, gold, and brass will also naturally develop wear over time. We believe that jewellery often moulds itself to your body, and we appreciate the unique marks it acquires over time. Just like the stories we accumulate in our lives, these marks make us unique and beautiful. However, if you prefer to keep your jewellery looking pristine, please treat it with the same care as your gemstones.

Cleaning your jewellery can be done in several ways. One effective method is to place the item in a small bowl of warm water mixed with a dash of dishwashing detergent. While soaking, gently use a soft toothbrush on the stones and crevices to dislodge any accumulated dirt and oils from your skin. This dirt can dull the reflective qualities of the gemstones, although most of our runt stones are already rough and cloudy as intended. Finally, rinse the item thoroughly under clean water and completely dry it with a clean cloth.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR RING SIZE

Option 1: Measure an existing ring

  1. Select a ring that fits the intended finger comfortably.

  2. Measure the internal diameter across the widest point in millimetres.

  3. Match the measurement to the diameter column above to identify the corresponding UK/AU size. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the larger size for comfort.

Option 2: Measure your finger with a measuring tape or strip of paper

  1. Wrap a strip of paper, string or a soft measuring tape around the base of your finger. Ensure it sits comfortably and can pass over the knuckle.

  2. Mark the point where the ends meet.

  3. Measure the length of the paper or string in millimetres—this is the internal circumference.

  4. Convert circumference to diameter: divide the circumference (mm) by 3.1416. Round to one decimal place and match to the diameter column above. If between sizes, select the larger size.

Tips for accurate measurement

  • Measure at the end of the day when fingers are warm; cold fingers are smaller.

  • Measure several times and use the average.

  • If knuckles are larger than the base of the finger, ensure the ring will pass over the knuckle; choose a size that fits the knuckle comfortably.

  • Wide bands fit more snugly. For rings wider than 6 mm, consider going up half a size.

Dispatch typically occurs within 1-3 working days of order confirmation, unless a made-to-order item is specified. Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to customs processing, public holidays, or unforeseen delays.

Due to Torus Arc’s commitment to reducing waste and keeping small-scale, made-to-order piece production time can take up to 3 weeks unless communicated otherwise.

TORUS ARC offer national shipping within Australia through Australia Post. For international deliveries, I use Australia Post's Courier International.

  • Domestic Shipping: We provide a flat rate of $17.50 Australia-wide. The shipping cost will be automatically calculated and added to your total during checkout. This includes extra cover insurance and tracking.

  • International Shipping: We offer a flat rate of $35 AU for international shipping. Similar to domestic shipping, the shipping cost will be calculated and added to your total during checkout. This includes extra cover insurance and tracking.
